Working Solutions went virtual before Google was even incorporated—and operated for more than a dozen years before Uber proved streetworthy.

Today, what was once novel is now mainstay. Remote workforces are used by many American businesses, with an estimated 50+ million freelance workers nationwide.

That fact pleases Houlne. Founded 20 years ago, her woman-owned company contracted U.S. workers from the start. “Why look elsewhere for talent when it’s already here?”
