Vice President of Finance and Controller

What do an agricultural co-op, residential construction and on-demand contact center services have in common? Cathy Metry, chief financial executive at Working Solutions.

Her wide-ranging career includes:

Automating Ocean Spray Cranberries’ accounting system. There, she prepared the company’s annual budget—and sampled the berry products, too.

Directing financial reporting, internal and public, for do-it-yourself retailer Grossman’s, Inc.. Cathy installed a new financial package for automated management reporting and analytics.

Developing sales strategies for Domecq Importers. Her three-year strategy helped the liquor distributor achieve 20% annual growth.

“My passion is helping people,” she said. “Working for all these companies, I believe I’ve made a difference beyond crunching numbers. I’ve offered analytical views that improved the business.”

After graduating from Boston College, Cathy joined Arthur Andersen, earning her public accounting certification. Later, she worked for Andersen Consulting, doing profitability analysis and forecasting.

Cathy further sharpened her analytical skills at Spring Creek Capital, evaluating investment opportunities. Next came management at the accounting firm Montgomery Coscia Greilich LLP, directing due diligence for sell-side and buy-side transactions.

In 2011, Working Solutions became her first client at the firm—and several years later, her employer. That outside-in perspective gives her a unique vantage point, always with a consultant’s point of view.

“Every job taught me something, which I now use for the business and clients.”
